"Dr. Kas"
Dr. Kasim Abdur Razzaq is the CEO and lead consultant of Abdur Razzaq Counseling & Social Architecture, PA a culturally responsive mental health clinic. He is a proud native of the historic “Rondo Neighborhood” located in St. Paul, Minnesota. “Dr. Kas” is accomplished in the areas of research, workshop facilitation, executive coaching, service delivery and speaking addresses. He uses his competencies and philosophies to train clinicians, organizations, and communities on Afrikan-centered approaches to modern day psychology. He earned his BA in Psychology from Missouri S & T university while on full athletic scholarship.
Upon completion Dr. Kas returned home to Minnesota where he continued his educational training at the University of St. Thomas earning three graduate degrees; a Masters of Clinical Social Work, Masters of Education, and Doctorate of Counseling Psychology. He was selected as the 2022 University of St. Thomas graduate student keynote speaker where he delivered an inspirational keynote address. Dr. Kas is a licensed mental health professional and board approved clinical supervisor which he uses to support the community with Psychotherapy services and clinical supervision.
Dr. Kas is a sought-after speaker, esteemed author, and consultant, which have earned him recognition as a 2020 Top 100 leading Black Men in Minnesota by the Minnesota Black Chamber of Commerce. His skillful oratory has graced many organizations and speaking platforms including a masterful TEDx Talk on educational justice delivered in 2014. Dr. Kas was a 2021 George E. Meares Memorial Scholar and 2021 William H. Hastie Creative Research Fellow. Additionally, his expertise and service leadership regarding culturally responsive mental health services and Afrikan-centered Psychology earned him recognition in 2022 by the MN Black Collective Foundation, as Minnesota’s first Black community foundation grant & fellowship recipient for “organizational Black Led genius.”
Dr. Kas’ work has shifted attitudes, beliefs, practices, culture and climate within many organizations. He has facilitated change work for universities, community organizations, religious institutions, K-12 education, youth development programs and corporate spaces. He is an innovator in the field who leverages research, positionality, clinical skill, and human compassion to transform inhumane space into “sacred space.” Dr. Kas is a “social architect” that bolsters his philosophy of change work with the phrase “I work on spaces not on people!”
